About the MDI Prep Founder

At MDI Prep, we take pride in being guided by the vision and accomplishments of our founder, Dr. Anthony Sutton. Driven by an unwavering passion for medicine and education, Dr. Sutton has forged a remarkable career that spans various fields, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of many.

Education and Career Journey

Dr. Sutton began his journey with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. He served as a dedicated Beaumont Police Officer and contributed his expertise to Harris County. However, his desire to pursue medicine and education led him to the UT Houston School of Medicine, where he earned his esteemed medical degree.

During his time at medical school, Dr. Sutton displayed outstanding leadership qualities, serving as the President of the Student National Medical Association and Director of the Youth Leadership Forum. These experiences ignited his enthusiasm for student mentorship and development, which continues to be a central focus of his career.

Commitment to Underserved Populations

After graduation, Dr. Sutton demonstrated his commitment to underserved populations by becoming the Medical Consultant for Holman Healthcare. Drawing upon his training in Community Health, he organized initiatives addressing critical issues faced by underserved communities. Additionally, he spent a year teaching Biology and Chemistry at his high school alma mater, promoting education and making a difference in the lives of young minds.

An Inspiring Educator and Speaker

As a highly respected figure in the medical and educational fields, Dr. Sutton has been actively involved in various academic institutions, including the UT Houston Medical School, where he served on the admissions committee. He has been a sought-after speaker, sharing his insights and knowledge with countless faculty and students at local middle and high schools, as well as prestigious universities nationwide.

Founder of MDI Prep Program

Dr. Sutton’s innovative techniques in education led him to found the MDI Prep Program in 2008, a groundbreaking preparation course for aspiring medical, dental, pharmacy, and graduate school students. Through MDI Prep, he has helped countless students achieve their academic goals and reach their full potential.

A Commitment to Community Service

 

Beyond his professional pursuits, Dr. Sutton remains deeply committed to community service. He has received numerous leadership awards for his contributions and actively serves on various boards, including Teen and Family Services, Houston Homeless Coalition, and Safety Coalition for the UT Health Science Center. His impact on the community earned him the honor of being the keynote speaker at the “Night of Stars” event in New York City, where he raised funds for teen homelessness in the presence of former first ladies Barbara and Laura Bush.

Currently, Dr. Anthony Sutton dedicates a significant portion of his time to delivering motivational speeches across the United States, inspiring and empowering countless students to reach their full potential. His favorite quote, “We didn’t come here to lose,” embodies his relentless determination and commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.

We help

Pre-medical students

Through our collaboration with Next Step MCAT review, students receive expert instruction. In addition, MDI Prep assist students with shadowing opportunities, and medical school application assistance.

Pre-dental students

Through our collaboration with DAT Bootcamp we offer students the best DAT prep along with expert guidance for their dental school application process.

Pre-Pharmacy students

We have a PCAT course offered through live online instruction April, June, August each year. Over 95% of our students are accepted to pharmacy school.

Dental Licensing Exam

We offer live interactive online INBDE and NBDE 2 classes with a greater than 90% first time pass rate.

How it works​

Planning Stage
The potential student will talk with an MDI Prep advisor to determine the appropriate program to reach their exam goal and their professional goal. This meeting will take place online through adobe connect or in our Houston, Texas office.

Commitment Stage The student will sign agreement and pay all necessary fees to begin program. MDI Prep will sign agreement of services to be provided.

Kinetic StageDuring this stage all the moving parts will be put into place for the student. MDI Prep and the affiliate partners will deliver services, assign a mentor and follow student progress throughout the program.

Follow Up Stage
After student has completed exam, MDI Prep will remain in contact with student and provide support until they have successfully reached their goal.

Meet The Advisory Board

H. Young DDS

Dr. Young is a graduate of Howard Dental School. He completed his GPR residency at UT Houston Dental School. He is a former MDI Prep student and instructor. He currently is in private practice.

J. Kellway M.D.

Dr. Kellaway-Mason is an Opthalmologist. She is the Dean of Admissions for the UT San Antonio Medical School.

K. Smith, M.D.

Dr. Kevin Smith, M.D.,F.A.C.S. is owner of the Smith Center, a state-of-the-art medical practice focused on facial plastic surgery, sinus surgery, and headache relief. He is board certified in both Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. 

K. Aparicio DDS

Dr. Aparicio is a graduate of UT Houston Dental School. She is an expert instructor for dental anatomy. She has been a mentor for MDI Prep students with a 95% pass rate for those mentored.
